Em here. I was in dire need of chocolate chip cookies the other day. With a pleasant exhaustion from a swim workout earlier in the day, the only things in life that I needed were a good nap, cup of tea, and chocolate chip cookies. I opened the pantry and noticed that we were low on flour but had quite a lot of oats sitting around. Our oatmeal intake in the mornings has given way to smoothies and our new “sprouted granola” as the weather has gotten warmer, and the poor oats have been neglected. I decided to make some oatmeal chocolate chip cookies.
Susie here. I am finally posting a blog. It’s been a while and Emma has been on a roll. Initially it seemed appropriate to discuss Scout Louise, our four month old labrador puppy, because she has indeed captured our hearts and time. We like to break out in a cheer, “the perfect puppy” when she performs her tricks for us. We did have an issue when this morning’s toy became a roll of toilet paper which graced the living room and back porch. The look on her face was priceless. But, as I sat down to bring a little levity to my heart on the challenges of puppy training it brought me to a place of reminiscing about our Gracie and Elton. They just didn’t stay around long enough for my heart.
Life really changes when you lose a family pet. We have lost two beautiful labrador retrievers in the past 6 months. It was rough. Our children did not know life without their presence. Coming home to a quiet house instead of the rush of your joyous, ever faithful friends was strange. Now I know you all believe that you have or have owned the best dog. And I trust that you will all understand when I say, no you didn’t.
Em here. I spent a few hours over at my beloved friend D’s house on the beach the other day. Whenever I am at her house, it is for certain that I will be served several delectable dishes. Her mom, L, jokes that if there was ever a national disaster or earthquake, come to their house because they have food stock that will cover everyone for months. She may not be kidding. D and her family are some of the sweetest friends a girl could ask for, and I am so blessed to have them in my life. Just today, they stopped by with an assortment of croissants from Blu Orkid, the perfect treat following an afternoon swim. I planned on only having half of my croissant and saving the other half for later. That didn’t happen.
